The Organizing Revival Quilt was a collaboration between Naomi Kuo and the People’s Action Institute, a nation-wide network of progressive community organizers that ”builds the power of poor and working people, in rural, suburban, and urban areas to win change through issue campaigns and elections.” The project was an opportunity for People’s Action staff, members, and allies to leave a mark on a collective piece of art as a symbol of unity and a snapshot of the efforts that the network is making towards a grassroots renewal of community organizing. From September 2022 to June 2023, at events including the Organizing Revival Launch in New York City, and the People’s Action National Convention in Arlington, VA, people from across the country created a total of 156 quilt squares with commitments to action and other words and images that inspire them to keep organizing.
